Annual Blogcation

I usually take a break from blogging about this time of year, so, as I mentioned last week, I'll be doing that again. Not many of you have been reading the last couple of weeks anyway. I'm shutting it down for a little longer this time, maybe as long as a month. And this time if I suddenly get a spate of unexpected interviews I won't interrupt my hiatus to blab about it. Probably.

I delivered a Christmas present to a friend in November, because I wasn't going to see her before January, and I was taken aback for a moment when she opened it then and there. Why wouldn't she wait until Christmas? Later I remembered that she is Jewish, so never grew up following that tradition. I spent a moment asking myself if I had committed a faux pas by giving her a Christmas present, but only for a moment. Of course I hadn't. If someone gave me a present or a happy greeting to celebrate Kwanzaa or the winter solstice or the end of Ramadan or the continued absence of the flying spaghetti monster, I'd be honoured. So on that note, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all my wonderful readers, whatever you do or do not celebrate. Have a good time, even if you're working Christmas and New Year's. As I originally wrote this I thought I would be, but I've just found out I'll be home for both. Even better when it comes as a surprise. Thank you for all your comments and e-mails this year, I'm delighted by the diversity and knowledge of my readers.

I was going to post my New Year's Resolutions today, too, but the Secret Cabal of the Aviation Blogosphere has decreed December 28th to be the day of the New Year's Resolution, so you'll get a bonus post then.

As you mentioned "resolutions" ,-yes, I did notice your targets for fitness did a quiet disappearing act, along with the mammalian group of operators(potential employers)

Does this mean that you're now settled into a nice, comfortable rut?

It certainly sounds as though your job is a real peach for the young, free and single....in my twenties,I took two jobs which involved extensive driving, I explored the UK from end to end, a big thrill for someone who's excursions outside his home county could be counted on the fingers of one hand, until that point.......Happy days! One day, You'll be able to tell your kids about the times when you told people across the whole world about your exploits as an intrepid Aviatrix.

Thanks for another years' ride with you. ...cockney steve 9the blogger thing rejected the first part, yet allows "cockpit"....funny old world.

Merry Christmas. Ever since I entered aviation I think I appreciate celebrating the holidays with my family even more. When it's not a given that you'll have your holidays off it feels doubly sweet to be home. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Interesting that readers have dropped off - are you tracking RSS feed readers? I keep up with all my blogs & news feeds via Google Reader, which may not trigger tracking bugs, etc (although there are ways to watch how often it's called).

Anyhow, have a great break - thanks again for all the posts. This blog is always one of the first ones I read when there are new posts :)

I've been lurking for too long, and can now tell you that you are a daily read in Kuala Lumpur.

I'll miss your posts, but you deserve the break.

Merry Christmas Ms. As items pop up in my blog reader (I use google too) I plan when I'm going to read them to fit in the dead spots in my day. Unless it says "from Cockpit Conversation" in which case it get ripped open faster than the first gift on Christmas morning. Thanks for another years worth of exciting travel posts, detailed and well thought out technical articles and all of the fun little bits that you share. It really is appreciated.

Trixie, I don't often comment, but I read every post (I use Google for my RSS feed). I've found your blog to be consistently entertaining, informative, thought-provoking, and inspiring. I hope you plan to continue after your vacation from blogging. I'm glad you'll be home for the holidays, and I'll wish you a blessed Christmas and a healthy and prosperous year in 2009.

Everybody needs a vacation from anything they do from time to time. I'll look forward to your new posts in 2009!

Glad you'll be able to be home for Christmas... flying on Christmas Eve sounds dangerous anyway... Santa has to fly so fast to get to all the kids that night that I bet it's hard to "see and avoid" his eight (nine?) reindeer and sleigh!

Merry Christmas!

Thanks for the regular fun read and, especially, for the nice humor woven ever so nicely into all the topics you talk about. I often find myself thinking about the stuff you blog about during the day while riding my bike (or doing other things that keep my mind going). All the best wishes for 2009. May life be fun and may the job be one that contributes to life and doesn't take the energy from it, while still providing a lot of good stories for us readers.

PS - I don't use an RSS feed. I just bookmark your site in my browser and come to your site each day.

Have a terrific blogcation and a happy holiday with a peaceful New Year. I'd have been here more often, but that pesky Thousand Standing Around kept bugging me to sit in my chair and protect the exit lane from intruders.....cats, dogs, and little kids.

Happy Holidays to the Aviatrix and her many and varied readers!

My Solstice card this year.

Thanks to all for writing, of course especially 'trix... it's been good conversation.

I agree with all of the above. As an old retired airline type, I've enjoyed your delightful feminine twist to what used to be a man's world. Have a great holiday break and remember that even us old guys have come to look forward to your latest adventures. Keep it up! Ike
