The post from a few days ago didn't actually herald my being back. It was actually an indication that I'd neglected the blog for so long that a post I had written long ago and postdated to the far future came due and published itself. I didn't have a good plan for when to schedule it at the time and had been punting it forward through time for years.
See, I'm a person of obsessions. Some last a week. Some last for years. Some dwindle and are then rekindled. I blogged pretty much daily for almost ten years. (Cockpit Conversation was not my first blog). I blogged because I wanted to, and because it was fun to read the feedback. Recently another obsession has risen to the forefront of my life and seized the time and creative spark that used to go into blogging. If it stops being fun I'll see what comes next.
But seeing as you have all been so enthusiastic about that stray post, I'll see if I can blog once in a while, maybe at a frequency like Sam's rather than my former almost daily posts. We'll see how it goes. I haven't completely lost my habit of taking notes about my flights, so maybe in the back of my mind I'm still blogging.
Happy New Year, everyone. I do like you guys. Thanks for all the fun times--and the nasty times--that you've shared with me.

You've been missed. But feed us when you can.
Even a crust is better than nothing. Hope 2012 brings good jobs and great flying.
Welcome to the far future!
So nice to read about you again.
Happy New Year!
Missed you.........
I got uncannily excited when I saw that bold "1" next to cockpit conversations in google reader.
Glad to hear things are well with you and eagerly awaiting any installments that come our way.

Has our favorite aviatrix fallen in love?
Wayne, there's so much fun to be had with your theory. I'm too nice to give a primrose path answer.
Aviatrix, I think the posting-every-two-weeks model would be a good one. It was amazing how long you sustained that run of frequent and lengthy posts; I can imagine there'd be a bit of burnout in addition to your new obsession, whatever it may be. Obviously, your readers miss you.
I always wonder if, were I to perish unexpectedly, anyone would notice when all the half-baked posts I've got stored ten years in the future eventually published themselves. And if that might be a little creepy for them, if they'd happened to know me.
What Ben said.. you have been missed!
Trixie, Now I feel a bit guilty about my enthusiastic response to the re-appearance of your blog in my RSS feed. It's your life, so live it as you wish. (I myself have been blogging for almost five years now, but I only post twice a month, and even on that limited schedule, I've recently found myself thinking that I don't want to do it anymore.) Stay safe and be happy. Blue skies.
Heh. I feel like I must find both your former blog and your new project. I would then internet-know you via twice as many channels as today. This would be cool.
Thing is, to keep the tradition, I have to find the former blog and the new obsession through luck and randomness (almost).
It's so good hearing from you again, Aviatrix. I'm glad to know that you are still enjoying your new obsession, even if its identity remains a mystery to the rest of us. Everyone needs something to be passionate about.
Good to hear you're alright. It was a little strange to have the blog simply end, without your saying goodbye. LL&P.
I must say that I've really missed your posts. I became a little concerned when you referred to Sam's blog, as he's gone from 18/month (I picked a random month) to sometimes 1/month (and MONTHS between pilot-related posts, rather than travel), but that's for me/us to cope with, not for you to agonize over. I would ask that you enable RSS on your blog, as three months of endlessly checking for new posts could have been turned into an RSS notification. (No biggie though, Sam doesn't have it enabled either, nor the NAS Confusion blog.)
Pete: but there is an RSS on this blog. Not sure which browser you use, but many have a little indicator that show if a feed is available for a page, which means the author doesn't have to put the RSS link directly on the page.
On my browser, it's on the right-hand end of the address bar.
HA. When you post an old entry, you are still blogging. We'll takes what we can gets.
