It's not increased if it's always at that level!Danielhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14797197005974855806noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10000144.post-9244547154590143372010-08-30T07:28:20.376+00:002010-08-30T07:28:20.376+00:00Long ATIS recordings are a pet peeve of mine. In fact, I just wrote about it.

It's not just annoying -- it's a major safety problem in my opinion.

--RonRonhttp://www.rapp.org/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10000144.post-42797400223009037942010-08-28T03:46:43.971+00:002010-08-28T03:46:43.971+00:00A Squared, you're right, that makes no sense. ...A Squared, you're right, that makes no sense. There's the problem of blogging from old notes. I don't remember exactly where the B747 was, just that he took three tries to get the taxi clearance readback right before the controller gave up and said "whatever."Aviatrixhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13634111275860140084noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10000144.post-63618024142316444552010-08-28T02:57:49.906+00:002010-08-28T02:57:49.906+00:00Anchorage's ATIS is waaaaaayyyy too long even ...Anchorage's ATIS is waaaaaayyyy too long even when there is no construction. Pet peeve of mine, my view is that with all the relatively trivial stuff on the ATIS, your eyes glaze over and your more likely to miss something that matters.

This is recent phenomenon, not too many years ago, when the ATIS was actually a recording that one of the tower operators made, they were a lot shorter.A Squarednoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10000144.post-9349168159855075742010-08-28T02:53:02.619+00:002010-08-28T02:53:02.619+00:00There was a Korean 747 south of the construction o...There was a Korean 747 south of the construction on 7R?A Squarednoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10000144.post-83689600426317174712010-08-27T14:40:16.222+00:002010-08-27T14:40:16.222+00:00No, but sometimes I'm almost pining for the fj...No, but sometimes I'm almost pining for the fjords.

ATIS recordings do seem to go on forever, especially at the bigger airports. I count it as a small victory if on approach I manage to get a perfectly timed clickoncom2 "..whisky"click-off telling me I don't need to listen to one I already have.
